PATNA — Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said he was keeping a close watch on the situation in Ludhiana where workers clashed with police.
“I had a telephonic talk with Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and asked him to provide security to workers from Bihar,” Nitish told reporters here.
Badal had assured to provide security to Biharis working in Punjab, the chief minister said. He also asked people from the state to maintain calm.
Workers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh set afire some vehicles and clashed with police, in protest against alleged police inaction on a complaint of one of their fellow workers who was allegedly robbed by some persons, forcing authorities to clamp curfew in Ludhiana on Thursday.
